Missouri's unemployment rate ticks up

Missouri's unemployment rate inched up in November, according to the latest data from the state.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate in the Show Me State rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.2% last month compared with October, according to a news release.

"Missouri's unemployment rate has been at or below the national rate for more than eight years," officials said in the release, pointing to a November jobless rate of 3.7% on the national level.

Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment rose by 5,900 jobs in November compared with October.

Industries with increases included 3,000 jobs in manufacturing and 1,300 in mining, logging and construction. Professional and business services was down 3,600, and other services dropped by 600 jobs month over month, according to the release.
