Mid-Missouri Bank to consolidate Mount Vernon branches

Mid-Missouri Bank plans to consolidate its two Mount Vernon branches into a new office to be constructed on property that formerly housed a restaurant.

Bank spokesman Andrew Moore said workers last week demolished the former home of The Mountaineer restaurant, which relocated.

The company hired DeWitt & Associates Inc. as general contractor for the project, with Marshall-Waters-Woody and Associates Inc. on as lead architect. Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative is designing the building’s interior.

Located at 300 E. Mt Vernon Blvd., the 7,279-square-foot branch is expected to be completed in early summer. Moore declined to disclose construction costs. Moore said Mid-Missouri Bank will gradually phase out operations at its other two Mount Vernon branches, located at 200 W. Mt Vernon Blvd. and 109 N. Hickey St.

The new Mount Vernon branch is the second in recent months that will take the place of a popular establishment. Its 5419 S. Campbell Ave. branch that opened earlier this year was built on the former home of Bair’s Grocery.

Like the South Campbell branch, its new Mount Vernon location will implement technological features to help customers.

“The new Mount Vernon bank will feature an experience center similar to the recently opened South Springfield location,” said Jill Winn, vice president of operations for Mid-Missouri Bank in Mount Vernon, in a news release. “Here, customers can see and touch any of the electronic devices that make mobile banking more secure and efficient than ever.

“We are not removing any of the traditional ways our customers manage their finances, simply adding the most modern capabilities as well as teaching our customers anything they’d like to learn new.”
