Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri, yesterday called for a federal investigation into a $90 million billing scheme at a Missouri hospital.
McCaskill pointed to “potentially fraudulent practices” related to Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville.
She said private hospital management company Hospital Partners Inc. used Putnam County Memorial Hospital as “essentially a shell organization for labs across the country."
Hospital Partners allegedly issued out-of-state lab service bills for people who were not actually patients at Putnam County Memorial Hospital, according to McCaskill.
