Kroger and Albertsons agreed to sell more stores as they work to receive regulatory approval for their planned $25 billion merger.
The companies reached a deal to sell 166 more locations to C&S Wholesale Grocers, bringing the divesture up to 579 stores. C&S will pay Kroger about $2.9 billion for the stores, up from $1.9 billion previously.
Kroger entered a deal to buy Albertsons in October 2022. It has faced regulatory roadblocks in the time since.
