Springfield-based Hamra Enterprises LLC has opened its first restaurant in Mount Vernon.
The fast-food eatery, 1501 E. Mount Vernon Boulevard, is located in the TA Travel Center near Interstate 44, according to a news release. The opening date was April 27, said Eve Metheny, director of brand marketing for Hamra Enterprises.
“Southwest Missouri is our home, and we are thrilled to continue our commitment to our guests and communities through the opening of a new Wendy’s restaurant in Mount Vernon,” said Mike Hamra, president and CEO of Hamra Enterprises, in the release. “This new travel center provides a new level of service to area residents and travelers alike, and represents our ongoing philosophy of providing quality and convenience to those we serve.”
When fully staffed, the restaurant will have 50 employees, officials say.
The restaurant spans 2,705 square feet, Metheny said.
Hamra Enterprises now has 98 Wendy’s restaurants in five states, including 41 in Missouri, according to the release.
A safe room and classroom addition at Willard Central Elementary School will be used by the music, arts and athletic programs for a district that had 4,536 students last year, according to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education figures, but school officials say enrollment is projected to grow.
