Project description: Kum & Go District Supervisor Barry Green said due to an aging building and limited square footage, the West Des Moines, Iowa-based chain is relocating to the southeast corner of Sunset and Campbell Avenue - replacing a smaller store two blocks south at 2808 S. Campbell Ave. The new Marketplace store design - the second in the area - offers eight gas dispensers and a variety of fresh food, including made-to-order pizzas and sandwiches, Green said. The building is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, with features such as LED lighting and low-flow water fixtures. According to Springfield Business Journal archives, Kum & Go plans three more new store construction and relocation sites: 1306 W. Sunshine St., 425 N. West Bypass and 638 U.S. Highway 60 in Republic.
