Project description: The West Des Moines, Iowa-based fuel and convenience store chain is replacing an aging building and limited square footage at a nearby store and relocating it to the new Marketplace design. The concept, introduced in early 2016, is designed with six gas dispensers and fresh food inside, including made-to-order pizzas and sandwiches, according to spokeswoman Kristie Bell. She said the store will have energy-efficient features, such as LED lighting and low-flow water fixtures. Full development costs for the Marketplace stores typically run in the $4 million range, according to Springfield Business Journal reporting. Kum & Go also currently is replacing stores on West Sunshine Street and South National Avenue. Company officials have said Kum & Go is investing $30.5 million in the Springfield-area market, where it operates 46 stores.
