The Greene County Commission has awarded $1.1 million in its latest round of American Rescue Plan Act allocations for small businesses.

The commission approved 80 awards on Oct. 26, according to a news release.

The top recipient is DoubleTree by Hilton, with a $50,000 award. Rounding out the top five are Hilton Garden Inn, at $36,750; Cafe Cusco LLC, at $36,000; Harter House, at $33,000; and Houlihan's south, at $32,500. [Editor's note: The full list of recipients is attached with the images above.]

In a separate round of funding last year, the commission approved $3.7 million in ARPA grants for 314 small businesses, according to the release. For the latest round, the commission and ARPA team focused on small businesses with 100 or fewer employees. The average number of employees was 15, with the average award amount at $14,307.

“Small businesses and their employees are vital to our local economy and way of life and have been a top priority of the commission,” Commissioner John Russell said in the release. “They provide good jobs, services and products to our community, and a sense of connection that only comes from small business. We are excited to continue to get these funds out into our community where they are needed.”

All of Greene County's $56.9 million in ARPA funds must be allocated by Dec. 31, 2024. There's $8.2 million left to obligate, said Robert Jehle, public information officer for the Greene County Commission.
