The Discovery Center of Springfield has hired a new executive to fill the post left vacant by the founding director's resignation last year.
Meleah Spencer accepted the position, effective March 24. She has served as director of development and alumni relations at Drury University for the past seven years, and prior to that, worked in business development for Hallmark and for credit unions in Las Vegas and southern California, according to a news release.
Spencer succeeds Emily Fox, who resigned in November to take a job with the University of New Mexico Foundation. During her tenure, Fox led efforts to build the 438 E. St. Louis St. interactive science center into 50,000 square feet of gallery space with more than 200 educational exhibits, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
A native of Brighton, Spencer is also a Drury graduate.
"I am delighted to be part of an organization that provides hands-on, life-long learning in our community. I look forward to its growing success," Spencer said in the release.[[In-content Ad]]
