CMH to break ground on $8M long-term care center

Posted online
Citizens Memorial Healthcare is scheduled to break ground today on an $8.1 million long-term care center in Stockton.

The 50,292-square-foot replacement for the Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility is expected to be completed in 14 months at the CMH Stockton Medical Plaza. Larry Snyder & Co. is general contractor for the 90-bed center designed by Springfield architect Larry Nelson, and funding came through a U.S. Department of Agriculture loan, according to a news release.

“This will be a new way to look at how skilled care is provided in long-term care with a more homelike atmosphere,” CMH CEO Donald Babb said in the release. “As we design other long-term care facilities in the future, they will be designed similarly.”

The health care system also has plans in the works to build an independent living center at the 11.2-acre CMH Stockton Medical Plaza. The plaza includes Stockton Family Medical Center, Stockton Rehabilitation Clinic and Stockton Home Medical Equipment.

Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility was previously known as Stockton Nursing Home until a merger with the CMH Foundation in September 2011. It’s currently a 75-bed Medicare- and Medicaid-certified skilled nursing care center, according to the release.
