Ridgecrest Baptist Church closed last week on the sale of the former Remington’s community event center.
R.B. Murray Vice President Ross Murray said the deal finalized Nov. 13. Murray, who represented Ridgecrest Baptist Church, declined to disclose the buyer, saying the parties signed a nondisclosure agreement. According to a filing with the Greene County recorder’s office, the buyer was MMXVII Holding LLC. That entity name is not registered with the Missouri secretary of state, according to an online records search. MMXVII stands for 2017 in Roman numerals.
“They have asked to announce on their own,” Murray said of the buyer.
Ridgecrest Baptist, which in late 2015 closed Remington’s, entered into a contract in September. Murray declined to say whether Ridgecrest received its asking price of $5.2 million for the 30,000-square-foot Remington’s building at 1655 W. Republic Road.
Ridgecrest Baptist Senior Pastor Chad Grayson could not be reached for comment by deadline. Ridgecrest purchased what was once Missouri’s largest nightclub in 2004 for $3.3 million, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
The 9-acre property visible from Kansas Expressway and Republic Road has some 700 parking spaces.
