Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft launched an investigation into outgoing Attorney General Josh Hawley.
Ashcroft's investigation follows a letter in November from the American Democracy Legal Fund, which alleged Hawley may have “used public funds as attorney general to support his candidacy for U.S. Senate.”
Mary Compton, spokeswoman for the attorney general, said the office is “delighted to cooperate” with the probe “and put these ridiculous allegations to bed once and for all."
