A hip joint expands to Marshfield

A Springfield-based health care practice has expanded into downtown Marshfield.

June 30 was opening day for A hip joint Marshfield LLC, which is the sixth chiropractic and massage clinic for the 7-year-old company founded by Drs. Eric and Tania Reavis. The new clinic is across from the Webster County Courthouse at 103 E. Jefferson St.

Eric Reavis said startup costs for he and wife Tania to open the Marshfield location were $16,000, adding it is the fifth clinic owned by the company. The lone franchise location is in Nixa, which opened in early 2021, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Branson was previously the newest clinic to open for A hip joint, launching in October 2021, Tania Reavis said. The couple since has been considering other expansion opportunities.

“We’ve been looking at surrounding cities for some time, trying to expand,” Eric said. “We listen to our patients who have asked, ‘Are we coming here?’ Marshfield has been one of those that we’ve heard a lot of patients ask about.”

For its 1,500-square-foot clinic, Tania said the couple signed a one-year lease with Ozarks Elder Law LLC for $850 per month. Ozarks Elder Law bought the East Jefferson Street building in late 2018, according to past reporting, and is leasing out roughly half of it while occupying the remainder.

“We really like the downtown areas of the cities. Our first one is in downtown Springfield, and we really like that energy there, so we always tend to look at the city squares or the older downtown parts,” Eric said, referencing A hip joint’s 309 S. Jefferson Ave. clinic, which opened in 2016.

Like its other clinics, the four-employee Marshfield location offers chiropractic, massage, cupping and acupuncture services. Individual membership packages start at $45, according to its website.

A hip joint’s owners also are looking at clinic expansion beyond the Show Me State.

“We have talks going on in Fayetteville, [Arkansas], Lawrence, Kansas, and Kansas City,” he said, adding Fayetteville is likely the next destination. “Hopefully, that will be within the next couple of months.”
