Work by general contractor Masonry Structures Inc. is nearing completion for Springfield’s first Mr. Zippy Express Wash. Set to open in early November, the 3,766-square-foot car wash was designed by architecture firm Buddy Webb & Co. Engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; JS Smith Consulting Engineers PC, structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Liberty Bank is the lender for the approximately $1.2 million structure, which has masonry bearing walls with structural steel framing. According to previous SBJ coverage, owner John Hicks Jr. will manage the car wash, which will feature fully automatic, conveyor-style car wash systems with self-service vacuum and detail areas. Mr. Zippy Express Wash has one other location in Georgia.
