Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Michael W. Wheeler, of Kimberling City, to the board of trustees for the Public School Retirement System of Missouri. Wheeler is a retired Missouri educator with 35 years of service as a teacher and school administrator. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2012.

Skaggs Sleep Disorders Center earned five-year accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The center met or exceeded AASM standards, including inspection of the center’s facility and staff, and evaluations of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training.

Myer Hotels of Branson promoted one employee and hired two others. Sue Gordy was promoted to general manager of the Best Western Music Capital Inn. She previously managed the Comfort Inn West. Crystal Kantaroglu joined Myer Hotels as general manager of Comfort Inn West; she is a graduate of Marmara University in Turkey with a degree in hospitality management. Dawn Black was hired by Myer Hotels Marketing Group as promotional services manager. She has more than 18 years of domestic and international sales and marketing experience.

In August, Myer Hotels’ three Comfort Inn locations in Branson each received “exceptional” ratings by an outside inspection agency for Choice Hotels International. Comfort Inn & Suites Branson Meadows, Comfort Inn West, and Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills were scored on brand standards, cleanliness and condition.

Creative Printing and Design of Hollister hired Kyle Schlidknecht as workflow assistant. Schlidknecht, who has 15 years of press experience and previously worked for Irwin Printing Co. in Springfield, prepares digital files, makes plates and prepares orders.

Kathryn Buckstaff, former Springfield News-Leader reporter, was named manager of membership public relations for the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau. In this new chamber position, Buckstaff develops press releases and articles about member businesses, their owners and employees.
