Shelenhamer Construction is the general contractor for the Springfield Fire Department’s 12th fire station. Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is the architect on the $1.89 million project, and the engineers are Scott Consulting Engineers PC, civil and structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The 10,670-square-foot facility is designated as the hazardous materials response team station for the department and includes a community room. The building is constructed out of masonry and exterior insulation finish system veneer with metal studs and wood trusses. Four firefighters will be assigned to the new station, scheduled for completion in fall, will serve residents east of U.S. Highway 65.
