As vice president of sustainable design and development services, Jason Hainline oversees all sustainable development services for Environmental Market Solutions Inc. in the United States and China.
Hainline established the Springfield office of EMSI just more three years ago with no employees and no projects.
Since then, Hainline has worked on various sustainable buildings such as barracks and national park projects, and local projects including Cycles Unlimited and Matt O’Reilly’s Green Circle shopping center.
“Our services are broad, addressing the larger context of sustainability within the built environment,” Hainline said, noting that EMSI’s services include environmentally friendly design, consulting, energy analysis and strategic planning building projects ranging from a single structure to large developments.
He also is vice chairman of the Missouri Heartland Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, and he worked with Randy Jardine of construction firm DeWitt and Associates to establish GreenDrinks, a monthly networking opportunity for those interested in sustainable building.
Hainline expects demand for his skills and services to remain steady, and he’s already got a clear vision of where he’s headed.
“Ultimately my aim is to practice architecture with this same focus,” he said, noting that he’s pursuing professional registration as an architect in the state of Missouri. He graduated from Drury University in 1997 with degrees in architecture and art history.
Hainline and his wife, Amber, have two daughters, Milana and Mei Lin.
“Mei Lin is adopted from China, and that has significantly influenced our family life – the adoption process in general, as well as Chinese culture,” Hainline said.
