Rankin has lined up jobs using his economic development experience to consult with private companies throughout Missouri, according to a city news release. Rankin could not be reached for comment.
Rankin was hired as the city’s first economic development director in 2002 and previously served as executive director of the Branson Regional Economic Development Association. While with the city, he played a major role in attracting businesses – including the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum and the Sight and Sound Theater – and nurturing development of projects, such as Branson Landing and Branson Hills.
“I am convinced that the fast pace of Branson’s growth during the past four years would not have happened without Mike’s leadership in economic development,” said City Administrator Terry Dody in the release. “He will be missed, but he has established a firm foundation for the city in the future and for his predecessor.”
The city plans to begin advertising Rankin’s position immediately.
