Jeffery Smith

Posted online
Jeffery Smith followed in his father’s footsteps and became an architect, ignoring suggestions to do otherwise.

“I knew from a very young age what I wanted to do, even though (my father) tried to talk me out of it every chance he got,” he said. “I grew up with an inside perspective, observing and learning the good and bad of architecture and running an architectural firm. That insight has been very helpful in my own career.”

Smith is vice president and a shareholder of Butler, Rosenbury & Partners, where he serves as a project manager and architect in the hospitality studio of the firm. Smith is responsible for full-service and limited-service hotel projects.

“The hospitality studio designs hotels across the nation and has worked on many projects for John Q. Hammons and is listed as one of Hilton’s Preferred Architects,” Smith said.

Later this year, Smith is looking forward to transitioning into a management and studio leader position.

Smith said his family–wife Stacey and daughter Shaely–has been a great support to him and he credits them as his most important accomplishment. The Smiths also are expecting a baby boy in July.

“Being a good husband and father is a top priority,” he said. “I try to be a good leader, provider and role model for my family, setting a good example to gain their confidence and support for my personal and professional endeavors.”

Smith is involved at South Haven Baptist Church, is a member of Cowden Elementary PTA, serves as vice president of the Millstone Homeowners Association, serves on the Development Issues Impact Group, volunteers for the Salvation Army and supports various groups by attending charity events.

Smith has been involved in martial arts for more than 17 years. He has taught regular classes and pro bono Karate for Christ programs for kids.
