Springfield Board of Realtors names new executive

Twelve-year real estate broker Jessica Hickok yesterday was named association executive of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors, effective Jan. 2.

Hickok said in a news release she was resigning from her post as vice president of operations at Dizmang Properties Inc., a property management and investment firm for more than 200 single-family residences.

She’ll succeed Sharon Wells in the full-time position of managing GSBOR’s staff of nine, and working with its elected officers. With board approval Dec. 27, Hickok became only the third association executive in GSBOR’s 79-year history, said executive assistant Sylvia Derks. Lou Sable was the founding executive in 1933, and he was succeeded by Wells, who served GSBOR for three decades, Derks said.

Board President Shirley Cofer of Murney Associates, Realtors declined to answer questions this morning about Wells’ move.

“Sharon was there, and she’s not now,” Cofer said, noting Bob Fitzgerald served as interim executive the last few months. “As president, I’m certainly ready to have someone fill that position. We’re really excited to have (Hickok).”

Hickok started working at Dizmang Properties as an assistant to owner Paul Dizmang, and she advanced to handle the firm’s real estate education and training courses and manage some 600 tenants in its property management division. She also coordinated listings and pending contracts.

Hickok received her real estate license in 2000 and has a Graduate Realtor Institute designation from the Missouri Association of Realtors. In 2010, Hickok served as the chairwoman of MAR’s Young Professionals Network, a group she co-founded to connect young real estate professionals with seasoned veterans. She was named to the 2011 class of Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.

The local Realtors board claims roughly 1,700 members in Greene, Christian and Webster counties, according to GSBOR.com.

Additionally, longtime board member Miles Noenning has thrown his hat in the ring for the 2014 treasurer of the Missouri Association of Realtors. Noenning, a broker and chief administrative officer for Carol Jones, Realtors, has served the state association as a director and on several committees, including as chairman of the economic development council, since 2009. The last two years, he’s worked on MAR’s strategic action committee that helped form its O2 Initiative designed to measure outreach and output activities in order to improve member value. For instance, the committee identified MAR held seven business conferences the last two years that cost the association and its members $800,000 and took members out of their markets a sum of 400 days.

“MAR has challenged its board of directors, committees and chairs to produce output which is measurable and beneficial to its 18,000 members,” Noenning said in his letter for candidacy. “I am dedicated to seeing MAR achieve its mission. I am dedicated to seeing the local associations, and the state and national associations, work together to advance our members and our industry.”

The election will be held during the state board’s January business meeting in Jefferson City.[[In-content Ad]]
