Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks hires new director

Posted online
Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks Inc. has a new executive director in place.

The organization’s board chose Kimberly Morelock, who has experience as education coordinator for the Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association and as executive director of the Community Alliance for Compassionate Care at the End of Life, according to a news release.

She succeeds Kathy Sims, who exited the job in June and in February started as endowment director of Boy Scouts of America’s Heart of America Council, according to her LinkedIn page.

As executive director and the sole employee of HFO, Morelock is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the nonprofit that supports end-of-life projects, as well as community relationships and collaborations, according to the release.

“Kim has a wealth of experience and compassion for the needs of the patients and their families,” said Judy Thompson, HFO board president and Drury University vice president for stewardship and principal gifts, in the release.

The board also elected six new board members:
    •    Bradley Fisher of Missouri State University;
    •    Dr. Melissa Gaines of CoxHealth;
    •    Dr. Albert Leonardo Jr. of Mercy Clinic Hospice & Palliative Care Internal Medicine;
    •    Paul Reinert of Integrity Home Care & Hospice;
    •    Sativa Boatman-Sloan of the Law Office of Sativa Boatman-Sloan and 417 Elder Law; and
    •    Regina Waters of Drury University.

HFO during 2015 and 2016 awarded over $600,000 in grants supporting 14 projects related to end-of-life services and education in southwest Missouri, according to the release. Thompson said typically, the nonprofit distributes $125,000 to $135,000 in grants.
