Last edited 2:04 p.m., Aug. 16, 2012The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute, which earlier this year revived merger talks with Missouri State University, has listed its Springfield campus on the market for $6.37 million.
The roughly 54-acre site at 2885 W. Battlefield Road includes a 43,290-square-foot academic building and student housing comprising 20,205 square feet, according to the listing from R.B. Murray Co.
The single-story academic building built in 1997 has classrooms, a library, food and beverage lounges, break rooms, executive offices, board rooms and executive conference rooms. Built in 2000, the student housing in three buildings comprises 12 one-bed, one-bath units and 12 two-bed, two-bath units, according to the listing.
The property also includes roughly 37 undeveloped acres.
Ross Murray of R.B. Murray Co. said the school would be moving if they sell the property. He noted the school's Robert J. Murney Clinic on South Campbell Avenue isn't for sale, and he referred other questions to Dr. Mark Skrade, president of The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute.
Skrade could not be reached for comment by deadline. In a
conversation with Springfield Business Journal published Aug. 6, Skrade said the school had signed a letter of intent to merge with Missouri State University.
"I think students – and students being the collective for us and for Missouri State – will benefit from the merger. Springfield – the region – will benefit from the expanded programs, the services coming together. I think we’ll benefit as a community broadly from the merger," Skrade said at the time.
Murray said R.B. Murray and Forest Institute are in discussions with two or three groups concerning the sale of the property, but he declined to give their names.[[In-content Ad]]
