Project description: Branson Mountain Adventure Park will be home to the area’s first mountain coaster, The Runaway. The $5 million project, which is among some $300 million in current investments in the Branson market, comprises two connected buildings – a ticket office and gift shop as well as a launch zone for 40 coaster carts, said General Manager Matt Meadows. Cohoes, N.Y.-based Aquatic Development Group Inc. designed and built the 5,000-foot long mountain coaster utilizing a nearly 400-foot natural slope on hills adjacent to Fall Creek. The coaster pushes riders up the hill from the cart station, and the ride down, which includes a pair of 360-degree horizontal loops, is powered only by gravity – with brakes for riders and electronic sensors to prevent crashes. Meadows said cart speeds reach 30 miles per hour during the roughly 7-minute ride.
