Two Detroit, Michigan, men yesterday were indicted by a federal grand jury for robbing Maxon’s Diamond Merchants at 2622 S. Glenstone Ave., according to a news release from the office of Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

According to the indictment, Mark Anthone Pitts, 32, and Justin Anderson, 32, allegedly robbed the jewelry store Sept. 1 by threatening and pushing employees and wielding hammers to steal Rolex watches. The two also are charged with transporting stolen goods across state lines, according to the release.

Don Ledford, public affairs officer for the Department of Justice, said the value of stolen goods was not stated in investigation documents presented by the Springfield Police Department and the FBI. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick Carney and Nhan D. Nguyen.
