Planet Fitness net income rises 26% in first earnings report

Planet Fitness Inc. announced its second-quarter earnings rose 26 percent in its first financial report since its initial public offering last month.

Earnings were $11.5 million for the quarter, up from $8.8 million. Revenue climbed 26 percent to $79 million.

Sales at stores open more than a year grew 7.3 percent, compared with a 10.7 percent increase a year earlier.
