Minnesota-based Cygnus Home Service LLC, which does business as Yelloh and formerly operated as Schwan’s Home Delivery, is making local layoffs.
Yelloh plans to lay off 12 employees in Carthage and 11 in Republic, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the state yesterday. The notice points to a total of 44 layoffs in Missouri, with Columbia, O'Fallon and Sedalia also impacted.
Eleven of the layoffs in Carthage and Republic are route sales representatives, and the cuts also impact roles including area manager and material handler.
"This letter is to advise you that Cygnus Home Service, LLC, dba Yelloh, is undergoing layoffs nationwide. These layoffs are permanent," the WARN notice reads. "Each employee will be paid through July 27, 2024, and will remain on the company’s benefits plan, consistent with the WARN Act requirements."
Yelloh in October 2023 announced in a public statement that layoffs were on the way nationwide due to "economic headwinds, rising business costs and the post-pandemic world." The statement indicated Missouri is one of the company's focus areas.
Yelloh, a 70-year-old company, is known for delivering frozen food to customers' homes.
