Wyndham Vacation Ownership Inc. late last month notified the state of 161 layoffs and furloughs conducted since April in Branson.
Of the tally, 130 were layoffs, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing with the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development. Located at 110 Willow Bend Drive in Branson, Wyndham sells timeshare packages.
"We apologize that we were unable to provide more advance notice of the action," company officials said in the filing, pointing to "the speed and vast reach of the physical calamity that is the coronavirus outbreak, as well as the different and new declaration of a state of emergency and directives at the federal, state and local level."
Separation dates for employees continue through this week. Job titles impacted include sales representatives, quality assurance employees and business operations supervisors, according to the filing.
An attempt to reach company officials in Branson was unsuccessful by deadline.
In a 2017 advertisement, Wyndham indicated it had 300 employees in Branson. An award profile in 2009 put Wyndham's Branson operations in the category of employers with more than 301 employees.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
