Woman injured exiting Silver Dollar City tram

A Mississippi woman sustained a “serious” injury when she attempted to exit a moving tram at Silver Dollar City, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

The report indicates Sandy Boatner, 64, of Lambert, Mississippi, was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield after the accident occurred around noon yesterday. Silver Dollar City spokeswoman Lisa Rau said via email the tram involved takes visitors to and from parking lots surrounding the Branson theme park. She deferred other questions to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Boatner, according to the report, was a passenger on the tram driven by Amanda Fogelquist, 25.

In a public Facebook post, Boatner’s husband, Randall, said his wife has brain bleeding and arm, shoulder and facial fractures from the accident. Randall Boatner is a pastor at The Way of the Cross Cowboy Baptist Church in Mississippi, according to a Facebook page he shares with his wife.

The accident occurred as Silver Dollar City was running its holiday event, dubbed An Old Time Christmas. The attraction this month was named the top theme park holiday event in reader polls via USA Today’s 10Best.com. Running through today, An Old Time Christmas features 6.5 million lights installed throughout the park. The new centerpiece is a $1.5 million, eight-story Christmas tree and light show in the Town Square, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
