Wilson Logistics names 2nd president in company history

Posted online

Springfield trucking and logistics company Wilson Logistics Inc. named the second president in its nearly 40-year history.

Ryan Farrell, who joined the company as chief financial officer in 2015, took on the additional role of president yesterday. Founder and CEO Darrel Wilson relinquished the president title after being the only person to hold that role, said company spokesman Michael Ensminger. Wilson continues to own the firm and serve as its CEO, Ensminger said.

“Ryan brought an unrelenting work ethic and equally impressive results since joining Wilson Logistics as CFO, assuming many duties and roles above and beyond the scope of a standard CFO role,” Wilson said in a news release.

Farrell is credited with leading four acquisitions for Wilson Logistics, as well as the creation and management of new departments. Most recently, Wilson Logistics in May 2019 purchased a division of Danish transport firm DSV A/S.

Wilson Logistics ranked No. 4 on Springfield Business Journal’s 2019 Dynamic Dozen fast-growth list, with 2016-18 revenue growth of 64% to $171.5 million. The company had 735 employees at the time of the Dynamic Dozen awards in May 2019.

With a fleet of 1,000 trucks, Wilson Logistics has terminals in Springfield; Missoula, Montana; Pacific and Yakima, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Tracy, California; and Garland, Texas, according to the release.
