The 21st annual Hungerthon benefitting Ozarks Food Harvest’s weekend backpack program raised a record amount of $156,644. After a weekend of accepting pledges, Ozarks Food Harvest’s Denise Gibson and Bart Brown, first and third from left, pose with iHeartMedia’s Kevin Howard and Sarah Green, second and fourth from left, on Sept. 9. Money raised during the radiothon – hosted by Howard and Liz Delany of “The Kevin and Liz Show” on KGBX-FM – will go toward providing backpacks with food for 522 at-risk children for every weekend of the school year.

NEW DELAWARE
Springfield Public Schools Superintendent John Jungmann speaks at the Aug. 26 groundbreaking ceremony for Delaware Elementary School, 1505 S. Delaware Ave. The 1951-built school was demolished and the $11 million construction project is funded through voter-approved bonds in April.
