SRC Holdings Corp. President and CEO Jack Stack receives the Txemi Cantera International Prize from Maria Jesus San Jose of the Basque government in Bilbao, Spain. The award honors an organization supporting workers and reinforces the values of cooperation, solidarity, participation and equitable sharing of wealth. SRC is only the third American company selected in the 29 years the award’s been issued. Winners are chosen by a panel of members from the Basque government, the Gezki Institute, the Institute for Cooperative Studies at the University of Deusto and the local Department of Economic Promotion.

CARPENTRY CLASS
Ozarks Technical Community College and contractor Branco Enterprises Inc. are partnering on a carpentry apprenticeship program. The school’s Center for Workforce Development provides on-the-job experience and classroom instruction to select employees. Officials say six students are enrolled, and pictured at right are Daniel Walker, Chance York, Chase Holmes, instructor Allen Hall and Jared Rogers. Hall, a longtime Branco employee, was hired by OTC to teach the classes. According to a news release, he was among Branco’s inaugural class of apprentices in 1993.

GAME ON
Ozark High School Esports Club sponsor Andy Caudle, standing, talks with junior Keagan Prewett during a recent practice. School officials say the club is growing, and in October, Ozark joined area districts to form the nonprofit Missouri High School Esports Association. The club advisers say they’re directing students toward potential careers and collegiate involvement in the growing industry for competitive multiplayer video gaming. The team is currently participating in a five-week North America High School Scholastic League of Legends Tournament.
