Mercy Springfield Communities President Craig McCoy, left, was the June 15 guest for Springfield Business Journal’s 12 People You Need to Know live interview series conducted by Editorial Vice President Eric Olson. McCoy expresses concern of the rising number of patients being hospitalized with COVID-19 in the past week, the vast majority of which are unvaccinated. At the time of the interview, McCoy said Mercy was caring for 57 people with COVID-19. The monthly event returned to Hilton Garden Inn after moving virtual in March 2020.

As part of his June 11 visit to Springfield, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, left, tours Burrell Behavioral Health’s Behavioral Crisis Center with the nonprofit’s President and CEO C.J. Davis and Springfield Mayor Ken McClure. The center provides a walk-in clinic for adults in need of immediate psychiatric care, treatment for opioid use or a psychiatric assessment. The mayors also met with Springfield Police Department Maj. Tad Peters to discuss the collaboration between the police department and the health care provider.
A career pivot for a former human resources professional resulted in Bosky’s Vegan Grill; Neverending Game Store LLC made its second move in as many years; and Mercy Springfield Communities added a second Queen City clinic focused on sports rehabilitation and performance improvement.
