Branson Alderman Julia King is sworn in before the Aug. 25 city board meeting. King, who works as a project manager for Healthcare Performance Group, was selected to take the Ward 3 seat vacated by Kevin McConnell. Branson Mayor Edd Akers recommended King to the board, after he and a panel interviewed applicants in August, and board members unanimously approved King during a special meeting. Her term runs through the next municipal election in April 2021.

Utility crews in Nixa prepare to raise a new water tank Aug. 19. City officials say the water tower on South Norton Road holds 1 million gallons of drinking water and maintains pressure and supply in the city’s water system. The city posted a time-lapse video on its Facebook page of the jacking system that hoisted up the tank.
