Volt Credit Union CEO Loretta Roney is exiting the organization after nine years at the helm.

Roney accepted the CEO position for a national nonprofit group in Orlando, Florida, called InCharge Debt Solutions and InCharge Education Foundation, said Vicki Owens, chief administrative officer for Volt, via email. Roney will succeed the retiring CEO of the nonprofit that provides financial education and counseling services in all 50 states, Owens added.

Roney's last day at Volt Credit Union is scheduled May 3, Owens said.

“During her tenure, Loretta has led our organization with passion, integrity and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” said Bill Jameson, chair of Volt Credit Union, in a news release. “Her vision and leadership have helped us to achieve significant growth and success, and we are grateful for her many contributions. On behalf of the board, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Loretta for her outstanding leadership and wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

Volt has hired Houston, Texas-based Cornerstone Resource to conduct a search for Roney's successor to lead the credit union with $90 million in assets, more than 7,000 members and two branches, according to the release.

During Roney's tenure, the nearly 90-year-old credit union rebranded from Community Financial Credit Union in 2018, according to past reporting. A 2019 honoree for Springfield Business Journal's Most Influential Women event, Roney also led a $2.5 million investment in a new headquarters and second Springfield branch.

“Leaders don’t just take initiative themselves but are able to set a vision and ignite fire and passion in others to follow,” she said in her Most Influential Women profile.

Roney was hired in 2014 to succeed 32-year credit union CEO Cathy Stroud, according to SBJ archives, and she came to the Springfield organization after working as president and CEO of Highway Alliance Credit Union in Jefferson City.
