Video: Local Cary Summers gives sneak peek into Museum of the Bible

Posted online

The Museum of the Bible is a 430,000-square-foot destination set to open Nov. 17 in Washington, D.C. – with the help of several local businesspeople. Founded by Steve Green, president of Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., the project aims to tell the history of the bestselling book of all time, share its stories and demonstrate its impact on the world.

Cary Summers – who was president and CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. and Silver Dollar City, after working as a vice president at Bass Pro Shops – is the director of the museum’s team of academics, designers and technology experts. In this video, he gives FOX News Network’s Lauren Green a tour, previewing the 40-foot tall bronze entrance doors, the Bible’s influence on American history and one of the largest collections of Bibles in the world.

The property has been in development for five years and will house libraries, research labs, interactive exhibits, a theater, a lecture hall, banquet space, classrooms and a restaurant.

Springfield Business Journal reported July 10 how several other local people are contributing their knowledge of Bible scholarship and interior design to the project.
