United Way of the Ozarks raised nearly $2.5 million in its annual campaign.
The fundraiser, which ran April 1, 2020, through March 31 of this year, was down 1% from the prior campaign's total, according to a news release.
“When COVID-19 reached our community last spring, the United Way of the Ozarks knew that our local nonprofits would be needed more than ever," United Way President and CEO Greg Burris said in the release. "When demand for services increased, we called on our donors and the local community to help us keep nonprofits operating safely. The result is truly a success to be celebrated.”
With the theme of Connect the Dots, the campaign focused largely on virtual fundraisers, in lieu of in-person events, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the United Way campaign, over $185,700 in cleaning and sanitation supplies, virtual communication equipment and housing assistance was provided. Additionally, officials distributed more than 109,000 face masks and coverings, according to the release.
Some 200 local organizations participated in workforce campaigns during the year.
