Springfield-based 4 by 4 Brewing Co. LLC's development in Fremont Hills is officially underway.
Company officials joined with Christian County economic development and government staffers to break ground Aug. 26 on a 12,000-square-foot brewery, taproom and event center near Fremont Hills Country Club, according to a news release.
“It has been a pleasure working with 4 by 4 Brewing through the stages of predevelopment. This project has been in great hands with their design team and the leaders at Fremont Hills,” said Andrea Sitzes, president and CEO of the Show Me Christian County economic development group, in the release. "We are grateful for the investment 4 by 4 Brewing is making in this area."
The company, which has operated in Springfield's Galloway Village since 2017, announced plans in March for its second brewery.
Company officials said in a Facebook post the brewery is slated to open in fall 2022.
Torgerson Design Partners LLC performed the architectural design, while Stinson Building Co. is serving as general contractor. Both companies are based in Ozark. The structure is being built from the ground up on a vacant parcel at Highway CC and Fremont Road.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, 4 by 4 Brewing officials credited Arvest Bank as the project’s financial partner. Construction costs have not been disclosed.
In April, 4 by 4 Brewing ranked No. 3 on Springfield Business Journal's 2021 list of the area's largest breweries. The company reported 1,200 barrels produced in 2020, a 9% increase from 2019.
The project is slated to increase production capacity to 10,500 barrels and grow 4 by 4 Brewing’s retail presence, according to company officials.
