TelComm Credit Union names new CEO

Posted online

TelComm Credit Union promoted from within to fill the top spot being vacated by the retiring Don Ackerman.

Jessica Shorney, the credit union's chief financial officer and a 15-year employee, is slated to take over the CEO position on Jan. 1, according to a news release. Ackerman is retiring Dec. 31 after a 24-year run leading the company.

“After a lengthy interview process, our board of directors and supervisory committee selected Jessica unanimously as we believe she will continue to carry on a strong service culture as TelComm enters into its next generation of products and services," said Greg Eck, board chairperson, in the release.

The leadership transition comes as TelComm celebrates its 80th anniversary. All-time highs in assets and membership – $203.6 million and over 21,000, respectively – were accomplished this year, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

TelComm ranked No. 3 on SBJ’s 2020 list of the area’s largest credit unions, with nearly $179 million in local assets as of April 27.

"I look forward to working with our members, volunteers and staff to move TelComm Credit Union forward, building on our financial strength and our ongoing commitment to serve our neighbors in the southwest Missouri area," Shorney said in the release.
