Vecino Design LLC
The Vecino Group LLC is the developer and Vecino Design LLC designed, in partnership with architect of record BW Architecture and Engineering (Troy, New York), the $71 million mixed-use project at the site of a city-owned parking garage in Ithaca, New York. The 12-story Asteri building, with a 22,000-square-foot ground floor and spanning 200,000 square feet, will feature a conference center on the bottom three levels and 181 affordable housing units above. Project officials say the building will replace the worn-out western section of the three-story garage, which will be expanded by four levels. Vecino Construction (Troy, New York) and Welliver (Montour Falls, New York) are the general contractors. Mechanical engineering is provided by Taitem Engineering (Ithaca) and BW Architecture and Engineering. Stand Structural Engineering Inc. (Overland Park, Kansas) is the structural engineer, and Whitham Planning & Design (Ithaca) is the landscape architect. The Asteri is expected to open in late 2023.
