Jarrett Middle School
906 W. Portland St.

Dake Wells Architecture Inc. is designing Springfield Public Schools’ new two-story Jarrett Middle School at the former Portland Elementary School site. Voters approved the $41.5 million project through Proposition S. Officials say the 130,000-square-foot school utilizes natural daylight, flexible classrooms and large collaboration areas to create a modern learning environment. The design also incorporates a storm safe room, as well as a track and field. A general contractor is yet to be decided. Engineering work is by CJW Transportation Consultants LLC, civil; Structural Engineering Associates Inc., structural; SWT Design Inc., landscape; and Smith-Goth Engineers Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion in fall 2022.
