STL nonprofit expands to SWMO with local hire

Posted online

St. Louis-based nonprofit Philanthropy Missouri is gaining a foothold in the southwest Missouri market with the hiring of a local director.

Amy Wescott, who is based in Branson, was named the nonprofit's director of services for southwest Missouri, according to a news release issued yesterday. Wescott's LinkedIn profile indicates she joined the organization in January, bringing with her roughly 20 years of nonprofit board and volunteer experience.

Reached this morning, Wescott said she was hired as part of the recently rebranded Philanthropy Missouri's plans to expand statewide. The 501(c)3 organization, formerly known as Gateway Center for Giving, provides services to nonprofit donors including networking opportunities and educational and topical programming.

"As the first employee outside of St. Louis, my primary role is to connect with funders in southwest Missouri and introduce them to our organization and network of funders," Wescott said via email. "Over the next months, in addition to programming applicable to funders statewide, we will begin offering events and programming that are tailored to the needs and interests of southwest Missouri funders."

Wescott, who is currently working remotely, said the goal is to establish a physical presence in southwest Missouri. She said the need for additional local staff members also would be assessed.

Philanthropy Missouri's members collectively represent $5.8 billion in charitable assets, according to the release.
