Springfield store spared in LL Flooring closure announcement

Posted online

The Springfield location of Richmond, Virginia-based LL Flooring Holdings Inc. (NYSE: LL) is not impacted by closures announced alongside the company's recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

LL Flooring, which previously operated as Lumber Liquidators, announced in an Aug. 11 news release that it would shutter 93 of its more than 300 stores nationwide as it seeks a sale of the business via bankruptcy proceedings.

The Springfield store, located at 3103 E. Chestnut Expressway near the Highway 65 interchange, is not on the closure list published by the company. Stores in Joplin, Chesterfield and Kansas City are named on the list.

Company officials said in the release that its stores would remain open amid the bankruptcy process, with those slated for closure conducting closing sales.

"After comprehensive efforts to enhance our liquidity position in a challenging macro environment, a determination was made that initiating this Chapter 11 process is the best path forward for the company," LL Flooring President and CEO Charles Tyson said in the release. "Today’s step is intended to provide LL Flooring with additional time and financial flexibility as we reduce our physical footprint and close certain stores while pursuing a going-concern sale of the rest of our business.

"As we move through this process, we are committed to continuing to serve our valued customers, and to working seamlessly with our vendors and partners."
