Springfield nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks Inc. has been chosen for tax credits from the state.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development awarded Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks $100,000 in Youth Opportunities Program tax credits out of more than $5.8 million announced in a news release yesterday. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks is the only Springfield-area organization on the list.
“Missouri nonprofits provide our youngest and most vulnerable citizens with critically needed services,” Gov. Mike Parson said in the release. “We’re proud to assist these organizations in their work to improve the lives of young people statewide. This program is supporting efforts that help build stronger communities and secure brighter futures.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks’ proceeds from the tax credits are earmarked for its mentoring program that matches at-risk youth with adult role models.
Through the program, donors receive tax credits for contributions to nonprofits, according to the release. The Youth Opportunities Program is designed for youth development or crime prevention projects.
