Springfield nonprofit establishes HQ

Posted online

On Angels' Wings, a mental health and wellness nonprofit that previously did not have office space, is now operating in a brick-and-mortar headquarters.

Michelle Cramer, founder and president of the Springfield nonprofit, said the organization penned a lease for roughly 1,250 square feet at 1440 E. Lark St. in Meadow Lark Plaza. The annual lease cost is $15,073, plus utilities, she said.

"As a grassroots nonprofit organization, volunteers and board members telecommuted and we did not have a space," she said via email. "We're excited that this location gives us the opportunity to provide our recipient families with expanded services."

The office adds meeting space for grief recovery groups and two studios for the nonprofit’s primary service: free photography designed to improve the mental health and wellness of families with medically fragile children. The nonprofit's website indicates "the predominate service we provide is photographs to help families celebrate life and encourage hope in their circumstances."

An open house is scheduled Dec. 8 for the new headquarters, which officially opened in September, according to a news release.

On Angels’ Wings recently formed an alliance with Lost & Found Grief Center to expand grief recovery services in the Springfield community, and it received a $9,500 grant from Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks.

The organization is running a capital campaign through Community Foundation of the Ozarks Inc. and is relying on in-kind donations and savings to cover rent and office expenses, Cramer said.
