Olsson Inc. is the civil and landscape engineer for a new Boyd Elementary School. The 110-year-old, three-story building is not accessible for students, Springfield Public School officials have said. The $20 million project is funded by the $168 million bond proposal, nicknamed Prop S. Boyd Elementary’s new building will allow for a larger playground, more parking and a storm shelter. When it opens for the 2021-22 school year, it will have 300 students from preschool through fifth grade. Hollis & Miller Architects Inc. and H Design Group LLC are project architects, with Hollis & Miller also serving as structural engineer. CJD Engineering LLC is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer. A general contractor has yet to be selected for this project.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
