Silver Dollar City to debut $1.5M Christmas tree

Silver Dollar City is scheduled to launch its annual holiday event, An Old Time Christmas, with a new $1.5 million fixture.

New to the event — starting Nov. 2 — is an 80-foot-tall Christmas tree designed by Atlanta-based S4 Lights, according to a news release. Officials with the Branson theme park announced in January that S4 Lights was hired for the design work.

The tree is the central feature of Silver Dollar City’s new Joy on Town Square campaign near the entrance of the Branson park.

“Joy on Town Square, with our new Christmas tree as the centerpiece, will include illumination of the square’s buildings, trees and landscape, immersing our guests in an even greater Christmas adventure,” Silver Dollar City Attractions President Brad Thomas said in the release. “We engaged a team of the world’s most-celebrated lighting geniuses to create this.”

An Old Time Christmas this year features nearly 7 million lights — equivalent to 680 miles — 1,000 decorated trees, 600 wreathes, more than three miles of garland and 15,000 yards of ribbon.

Jared Everline, director of interactive lighting at S4 Lights, said the company used “architainment” technology for the tree, including radiating colors and sounds.

“This tree is like no other tree on Earth,” he said in the release.

Other S4 Lights projects include displays for Clay's Park Resort in North Lawrence, Ohio, and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
