Silver Dollar City has purchased 800 acres of land adjacent to the theme park.
Lisa Rau, spokesperson for SDC, provided a statement confirming the acquisition of land near the Indian Ridge site in Branson West. Vacant townhomes that were part of the failed Indian Ridge development were not included in the purchase.
"The land was purchased for strategic purposes," the statement reads.
The statement did not provide additional details for the land purchase at 10054 E. State Highway 76 in Branson West.
Developer Jim Shirato in the mid-2000s broke ground on the planned $1.6 billion, 850-acre Indian Ridge development in Branson West. The project never came to fruition, leaving behind empty structures in various stages of development. Colorado-based MD&D Investments LLC later announced plans for a new project called The Ridge at Table Rock Lake, and a hotel was in the works as recently as last year, according to past reporting.
Silver Dollar City is slated to open for the season on March 16, according to a news release.
The theme park in summer 2020 added the $23 million Mystic River Falls attraction to replace Lost River of the Ozarks.
