Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller has been appointed to a federal election committee.
Schoeller was tapped to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission's Technical Guidelines Development Committee, according to a news release. The committee guides the EAC in implementing requirements of the Help America Vote Act of 2002, such as advancements in election practices and computer technologies.
Additionally, Schoeller in September was elected as president of the Missouri Association of County Clerks and Election Authorities. As president, he'll be responsible for presiding over executive committee meetings and working on statewide election issues.
“I am honored to be able to serve on both the TGDC and as president of MACCEA because they both represent individuals from all sides of the political spectrum who are dedicated to their personal views based on their experience in their respective roles," Schoeller said in the release. “Election authorities from across the country, and especially right here in Missouri, work hard to make sure our elections are free, fair and accessible – and we will continue to look for ways to make sure that every vote is cast and counted both securely and accessibly.”
Schoeller became Greene County clerk in 2015 following six years as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives. He also had a stint as executive director of the Missouri Republican Party.
Schoeller will maintain his role as Greene County clerk while working in the federal and state positions.
