Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s office issued a clarification Wednesday on the state's abortion ban following confusion from at least one hospital.
“Missouri law does not prohibit the use or provision of Plan B, or contraception,” said Chris Nuelle, a spokesperson for the attorney general's office.
Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City had stopped providing emergency contraception, citing the “ambiguous” nature of Missouri’s trigger ban. The hospital released a statement that it would resume providing emergency contraception after the attorney general's clarification.
