Schmitt files charges against local business owner

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt's office filed charges against a Greene County business owner.

James Enloe is accused of violating Missouri’s Merchandising Practices Act, according to a news release. The charges comprise four class E felonies for allegedly defrauding customers through his business, Enloe Exteriors. The charges allege that Enloe provided minimal supplies or partial work before abandoning home renovation and repair projects after taking several payments.

Customers lost more than $19,000 through the alleged practices, according to Schmitt's office.

A request for comment from Enloe was not immediately returned by deadline.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorneys General Sarah Carnes and John Grantham, according to the release.
